At least four people died in a jeep accident at Birendranagar Municipality of Surkhet district on Saturday.

According to the police, the accident occurred at Jhuprakhola in the municipality along the Ratna Highway as the jeep, en route to Surkhet from Chhinchu, lost control and fell some 70-80 meters from the road.

The police, after receiving information regarding the incident, reached the accident spot at around 2:30am and sent the injured to the Karnali Province Hospital in Surkhet for treatment.

Police said that all the victims, who were seriously injured in the accident, died while undergoing treatment.

One injured, Birendra Raj Shahi of Bhairavi Rural Municipality in Dailekh district, is undergoing treatment at the provincial hospital.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Birendranagar Municipality in Surkhet, a 33-year-old man from Dungeshwar Rural Municipality, a 31-year-old man from Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality and a 36-year-old man of Gurans Rural Municipality in Dailekh, were among the victims, the police said.
