New 572 Covid-19 cases include 24 of Omicron

Nepal on Friday reported 572 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 831,052.
Similarly, 396 people tested positive in a total of 6,699 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
Earlier in the day, the Health Ministry said 24 new Omicron cases were confirmed. This takes the total number of Omicron infections to 27, as three cases from the new iteration of the virus were reported in December.
As of Friday, 4,910,014 PCR and 851,093 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,272 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not record any Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours.
The countrywide death toll stands at 11,602 and the number of active cases is 5,741.
According to the ministry, 813,709 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 262 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 369 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 284 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 62 in Lalitpur and 23 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 51 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 25 in Province 2, 412 in Bagmati, 31 in Gandaki, 37 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and nine in Sudurpaschim.
On Friday, 81 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 15—two in Province 1 and 13 in Bagmati—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 478 new coronavirus cases and one death. Similarly, 370 new coronavirus cases were recorded on Wednesday and 291 new coronavirus cases and two deaths were reported on Tuesday.
