With 2,231 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 712,740
The Health Ministry reports 19 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Saturday reported 3,218 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 712,740.
Similarly, 987 people tested positive in a total of 4,707 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Saturday, 3,674,701 PCR and 354,250 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,866 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 19 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,038.The number of active cases stands at 35,432.
According to the ministry, 667,270 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,722 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 910 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 593 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 189 in Lalitpur and 128 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 243 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 34 in Province 2, 1,203 in Bagmati, 528 in Gandaki, 99 in Lumbini, 93 in Karnali and 31 Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 16 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 20 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Saturday, 746 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 169—48 in Province 1, 97 in Bagmati, two in Gandaki, 16 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 2,430 new coronavirus cases and 25 new deaths. Similarly, 3,007 new coronavirus cases and 37 new deaths were recorded on Thursday and 2,975 new coronavirus cases and 35 new deaths were reported on Wednesday.
