With 1,982 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 676,708

Nepal on Friday reported 1,982 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 676,708.
Similarly, 995 people tested positive in a total of 3,610 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Friday, 3,517,889 PCR and 282,179 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 13,698 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 18 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,679. The number of active cases stands at 27,661.
According to the ministry, 639,368 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,678 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 613 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 410 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 134 in Lalitpur and 69 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 547 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 48 in Province 2, 920 in Bagmati, 340 in Gandaki, 107 in Lumbini, three in Karnali and 17 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 10 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 24 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Friday, 682 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 175—55 in Province 1, 95 in Bagmati, 15 in Gandaki, six in Lumbini and one in Sudurpaschim and three in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 1,855 new coronavirus cases and 24 new deaths. Similarly, 1,918 new coronavirus cases and 30 new deaths were recorded on Wednesday and 2,202 new coronavirus cases and 25 new deaths were reported on Tuesday.
