With 1,918 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 672,871
The Health Ministry reports 30 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Wednesday reported 1,919 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 672,871.
Similarly, 920 people tested positive in a total of 3,901 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Wednesday, 3,495,069 PCR and 274,862 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,715 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 30 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,637. The number of active cases stands at 26,832.
According to the ministry, 636,402 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,475 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 697 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 490 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 128 in Lalitpur and 79 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 288 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 26 in Province 2, 1009 in Bagmati, 336 in Gandaki, 154 in Lumbini, 43 in Karnali and 61 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 10 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 25 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Wednesday, 627 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 171—52 in Province 1, 99 in Bagmati, 11 in Gandaki, five in Lumbini, one in Karnali and three in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported 2,202 new coronavirus cases and 25 new deaths. Similarly, 1,642 new coronavirus cases and 32 new deaths were recorded on Monday and 1,223 new coronavirus cases and 23 new deaths were reported on Sunday.
