With 8,591 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 505,643
The Health Ministry reports 129 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Saturday reported 8,591 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 505,643.
Similarly, 389 people tested positive in a total of 743 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 129 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 6,153. The number of active cases stands at 115,806.
According to the ministry, 373,684 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 8,848 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,318 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 1,811 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 179 in Lalitpur and 328 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 1,204 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 574 in Province 2, 3,875 in Bagmati, 369 in Gandaki, 2,032 in Lumbini, 616 in Karnali and 1,023 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 45 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 17 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
As of Saturday, 2,897,503 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 19,357 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
On Saturday, 1,732 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 523—92 in Province 1, 56 in Province 2, 311 in Bagmati, 32 in Gandaki, 17 in Lumbini, eight in Karnali and seven in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 8,407 new Covid-19 cases and 174 fatalities. Similarly, 8,227 new Covid-19 cases and 190 fatalities were recorded on Thursday and 8,064 new coronavirus cases and 246 fatalities were reported on Wednesday.
