Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,027 with two more deaths; national tally reaches 270,854 with 109 new infections

Nepal on Saturday reported two more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,027. The country also recorded 109 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 270,854 with 2,779 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 266,048 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 350 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 64 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 56 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu and eight in Lalitpur. Bhaktapur didn’t record any cases today.
As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 126,616. While Kathmandu has reported 497 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 996 individuals from Bagmati Province, 285 from Lumbini Province, 226 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Saturday, 2,067,699 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,618 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 83 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province and 14 in Lumbini Province.
Similarly, Province 1, Sudurpaschim and Karnali reported two, three, and one cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Saturday, 144 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 25 others—14 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki, three in Lumbini and one in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported five Covid-19-related fatalities and 157 new cases. Similarly, 213 new infections were recorded on Thursday and three deaths and 283 new infections were recorded on Wednesday.
