Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,899 with six more deaths; national tally reaches 263,193 with 409 new infections

Nepal on Wednesday reported six more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,899. The country also recorded 409 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 263,193 with 5,133 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 256,161 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 495 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 233 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 159 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 50 in Lalitpur and 24 in Bhaktapur.
As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 122,506. While Kathmandu has reported 476 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 148 and 109 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 947 individuals from Bagmati Province, 243 from Lumbini Province, 218 from Province 1, 216 from Province 2, 188 from Gandaki Province, 62 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Wednesday, 1,964,160 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,706 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 12 new infections were reported in Province 1, four in Province 2, and 287 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 33, 66, and seven cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Solukhumbu and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 197 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 30 others—17 in Bagmati Province, seven in Lumbini, five in Gandaki, and one in Karnali—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported eight more Covid-19 related fatalities and 1,893 new cases. On Monday seven Covid-19-related fatalities and 403 new cases were recorded. The country had recorded eight Covid-19 related deaths and 421 new cases on Sunday. Similarly, six deaths and 419 new cases were recorded on Saturday and eight deaths and 426 new infections on Friday.
