Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,529 with 21 more deaths; national tally reaches 234,756 with 1,304 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported 21 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,529. The country also recorded 1,304 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 234,756 with 16,633 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 216,594 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, with 2,073 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 530 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 409 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 85 in Lalitpur and 36 in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 109,656. While Kathmandu has reported 386 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 114 and 93 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 774 individuals from Bagmati Province, 202 from Lumbini Province, 196 from Province 2, 192 from Province 1, 103 from Gandaki Province, 39 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 1,746,330 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,583 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 209 new infections were reported in Province 1, 45 in Province 2, and 649 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 160, 149, and 92 cases respectively.
Six districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 370 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 63 others—32 in Bagmati Province, 13 in Gandaki, 11 in Province 1, three in Lumbini Province, and two each on in Sudurpaschim Province and Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported 25 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,474 new infections compared to 25 deaths and 1,255 new infections on Sunday and 19 deaths and 1,380 new cases on Saturday.
