Byas starts generating revenue from solid wastes

Byas Municipality in Tanahun district started generating revenue by managing solid wastes.
According to Kashiram Gaire, chief administrative officer of the local unit, Byas Municipality earned Rs217,439 by selling renewal and reusable wastes in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
The municipality started separating solid waste into different categories and selling water bottles, papers, aluminium, iron, glass bottles among others.
“We have some waste materials of around Rs100,000. The solid wastes have been managed well on the one hand while on the other the local unit started generating revenue from it,” said Krishna Raj Ghimire, chief at the municipality’s forest, environment and sanitation unit.
