Nepali Congress leader Shashanka Koirala has been elected from Nawalparasi East-1 to the parliament for the fourth time.
Koirala defeated UML's candidate Krishna Prasad Poudel by a margin of 3,826 votes. Koirala bagged 27,127 votes against his closest competitor who received 23,301 votes.
Rajan Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party received 23,085 votes to stand third as per the final results.
Koirala had contested and won all three elections since 2008 from the constituency.
