Nepal thrash Sri Lanka 5-0 to reach U-19 SAFF championship semi-finals

Nepal cruised into the semi-finals of the U-19 SAFF Championship with a dominant 5-0 win over Sri Lanka at Golden Jubilee Stadium in Arunachal Pradesh, India, on Sunday.
The victory sees Nepal join India, who also secured three points, as both teams now prepare to clash for top spot in Group B.
Sri Lanka’s hopes were dashed as they were eliminated with two consecutive losses. Nepal’s goals came from Sujan Dangol, Dharmendra Kunwar, Subash Bam, Bigyan Khadka, and Lakshu Thapa. Sujan opened the scoring in injury time of the first half, converting a cross from Ram Thapa. Dharmendra doubled the lead in the 61st minute, followed by Subash’s strike in the 77th.
Bigyan sealed the win with a goal in the 90th minute, and Lakshu added a fifth in injury time of the second half.
In Group A, Bangladesh sealed their semi-final spot with a 3-0 win over Bhutan. With four points from two games, Bangladesh had earlier drawn 2-2 with the Maldives. The final match in Group A will see the Maldives face Bhutan, with the former needing only a draw to advance, while Bhutan must win to qualify.
