Jackline Nassali scored a hat-trick as Waling Municipality thumped Bagmati Youth Club 4-0 to climb to the fourth position in the ANFA Women’s League on Thursday.
Cissy Nantongo also netted for Waling at the ANFA Complex as the victory moved them level with third-placed Nepal Police Club. Both Waling and Police have 12 points but Police sit third due to superior goal difference.
For Bagmati, it has proved a false dawn after opening the women’s league with a 5-1 thrashing of Sudurpaschim Province. It remains Bagmati’s only victory of the season. They have lost four and drawn one since and sit miserably in the eighth position with four points.
Waling lost their opening match against Koshi Province 4-0 but have remarkably revived their season with four victories, thanks to their Ugandan signings Nassali, Nantongo and Viola Namuddu.
Their Ugandan players have now scored 12 of their 15 goals this season.
It was Nassali’s second hat-trick for Waling after also finding the net three times against Karnali Province.
To her name, Namaddu also has a hat-trick, which came against Sudurpaschim.
Nantongo, who also scored a goal in Waling’s 2-1 loss against defending champions Armed Police Force Club, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, beautifully placing a rebound after her freekick hit the bar first.
It was all Nassali after that.
Nassali doubled Waling’s lead in the 41st minute with a powerful shot. Sukriya Miya was the creator of the opportunity as her shot hit the upright and returned back. The lazy Bagmati defenders failed to clear the rebound, allowing Nassali to slam home a left-footed strike.
Nassali furthered Waling’s lead in the 54th minute tapping in a rebound after Bagmati goalkeeper Sujata Tamang failed to grab her header.
Nassali then completed a comfortable victory from close range in the 83rd minute converting a pass from Sushma Tamang.
