Satdobato inch closer to ‘B’ Division title

Satdobato Youth Club thumped Bansbari Club 4-1 to open a three-point lead atop the standings and inched closer to the title of Martyrs Memorial 'B' Division League at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, on Friday.
The Lalitpur-based side netted twice each in both halves. Asim Rai opened the scoring for Satdobato in the 11th minute before they were gifted an own goal in the stoppage time of the first half. Amrit Shrestha scored at his own post in his attempt to clear a cross.
Prabesh Basnet made it 3-0 in the 52nd while Dinesh Rai added another in the 62nd. Nishan Sunar pulled the consolation for Bansbari in the 77th minute.
Satdobato, the only unbeaten team in the league campaign, could seal the title if they win their next fixture with two matches remaining. Satdobato have 25 points from nine matches with eight wins and a draw.
They are three points ahead of second place Khumaltar Youth Club and could be guaranteed of promotions with only three points from the next two matches as they hold superiority over their closest rivals on head-to-head basis. Only the winner of the league would earn promotion to top division. Bansbari are third with 18 points after the completion of ninth round.
The late fixture of the day saw Madhyapur Youth Association stage a fightback to register third victory in a row after they defeated bottom-of-the-table Pulchowk Sports Club 3-2.
With the outcome, Madhyapur leapfrogged three places up to seventh. They have 10 points with three wins and a draw. Pulchowk are yet to taste victory and are close to relegation with only two points from as many draws.
Dhiraj Shrestha scored a brace for Madhyapur who were also gifted an own goal. Kismat Limbu had put Pulchowk ahead in the 17th minute before Shrestha restored parity in the 33th. But Shyrab Lo Tamang made it 2-1 in the first half injury time.
But Yam Bahadur Shrestha hit an own goal to add to the misery of bottom placed Pulchowk while Shrestha netted third goal for Madhyapur to ensure the victory.
