Sudurpashchim Royals posted a competitive 147 all out against Kathmandu Gorkhas at the TU International Cricket Ground. Kathmandu, who won the toss, opted to field first.
Sudurpashchim in their opening match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Wednesday endured a disastrous start, losing their top three wickets for just four runs.
Openers Josh Brown and Binod Bhandari fell for ducks, and Chris Lynn managed only two before captain Karan KC dismantled the top order with a fiery spell, taking all three early wickets.
The recovery came through Harmeet Singh, who launched a sensational counterattack, scoring 53 off only 20 balls with two fours and six sixes. He reached his half-century in 19 deliveries—the second-fastest fifty in NPL history—before being caught by Shahab Alam off the bowling of Sunny Patel.
Captain Dipendra Singh Airee added 39 off 30 balls, surviving two dropped catches on 11 and 12. His knock included three fours and a six, and he put on a crucial 61-run partnership with Harmeet for the seventh wicket.
Aarif Sheikh contributed 25, while Ishan Pandey made 11 as the Royals reached 147 in their full quota of 20 overs.
For Kathmandu, skipper Karan KC finished with 4 for 30 from his four overs. Rashid Khan, Sunny Patel and Milind Kumar claimed two wickets each.
Kathmandu Gorkhas entered the fixture with momentum, having defeated defending champions Janakpur Bolts by five wickets in their opening match on Monday. Sudurpashchim, meanwhile, are playing their first game of the tournament.
