Thailand secured an impressive eight-wicket win against the Netherlands in the second match of the Triangular Women’s T20I Series at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Friday. The Netherlands posted a modest 122-6, with Thailand comfortably chasing down the target with 12 balls to spare.
Batting first after losing the toss, the Netherlands struggled to build partnerships, with run outs and early wickets hindering their progress. Captain Babette de Leede top-scored with 52 off 50 balls, featuring eight boundaries. Iris Zwilling (28) and Carlijn van Koolwijk (8 off 8) provided some support as the team finished 122-6 after 20 overs.
Thailand’s bowlers were in fine form, with Thipatcha Putthawong taking 2-27 and Onnicha Kamchomphu contributing with 1-16 to restrict the Netherlands to a modest total.
In reply, Nannapat Koncharoenkai led Thailand’s chase, remaining unbeaten on 56 from 50 balls. Aphisara Suwanchonrathi added 28 runs, while Natthakan Chantham chipped in with 23 off 25 balls, ensuring Thailand reached the target with ease.
The Netherlands’ bowlers, including Iris Zwilling (1-24) and Caroline de Lange (1-30), failed to make significant breakthroughs as Thailand comfortably cruised to victory.
The triangular series is being held between Nepal, the Netherlands and Thailand. All three teams will play with every other team, and the side with the most points will be crowned the winner of the series.
