Nepal defeated Kuwait by 108 runs in their second match of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.
Winning the toss and batting first, Nepal posted a total of 130-8 in their 20 overs at The Sevens Cricket Stadium in Ajman, the UAE, on Thursday. Nepal then bowled out Kuwait for just 22 runs.
Captain Pooja Mahato top-scored for Nepal with 34 runs off 38 balls, including four boundaries. Sana Praveen contributed 25 runs from 18 balls, hitting five fours. Jyotsnika Marasini also played a vital role, scoring 23 runs from 18 balls with one four. Savitri Dhami and Sony Pakhrin each made six runs, while Seema KC scored four.
For Kuwait, Ayesha Iqbal Pewekar claimed two wickets.
Kuwait’s batting order flattened in the run chase. Skipper Zeefa Jilani scored 12 runs, but none of the other players could reach double figures. Six Kuwait players were dismissed without scoring a run.
For Nepal, Rachana Kumar Chaudhary and Seema KC took two wickets each.
Nepal began their bid for qualification to the 2025 ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup with a 67-run victory over Thailand in the Asia Qualifiers at the Sevens Stadium in Ajman, the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday.
Host UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, and Thailand are competing in the Asia Qualifiers, with the top team at the end of the double round-robin league earning their spot in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, which is set to be held in Malaysia.
