Nepal defeated Hong Kong by eight wickets in the ACC Women’s T20 Premier Cup being held at the Selangor Turf Club in Malaysia on Saturday.
Earlier, Hong Kong had posted a 94-run target at the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Nepal's Rubina Chhettry and Pooja Mahato grabbed two wickets each, bowling an even four overs. Likewise, Kavita Joshi and Magar also took a wicket apiece to limit Hong Kong to 93 runs.
In response, Nepal overcame the target in 14.1 overs, scoring 95 runs.
Captain Indu Burma and Sita Rana Magar shared a formidable partnership.
Burma smashed three hits to the fences and a six scoring 40 runs off 33 balls while Magar put up an unbeaten 36 off 38 balls.
Nepal are placed in Group 'B' alongside Bhutan, the Maldives, and Hong Kong. They will face Bhutan in the second match on Sunday.
Of the total 16 teams participating in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, the top two teams from each of the four groups will enter the quarterfinals.
