Majority Bagmati districts back Khadka’s candidacy
Khadka on the day formally announced his candidacy for the presidential position of Bagmati Province. The province’s election is scheduled for September 1.

Majority of district associations of Bagmati have backed former national cricket captain Paras Khadka’s candidacy for the post of president of Bagmati Province Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday.
Khadka on the day formally announced his candidacy for the presidential position of Bagmati Province. The province’s election is scheduled for September 1.
Among the six district associations of Bagmati, newly elected presidents of four district associations– Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Makawanpur and Lalitpur have— at a joint press conference announced their support for Khadka’s candidacy. Khadka, however, does not have backing of Nuwakot and Chitwan.
According to a joint statement issued by the presidents of the four district associations– Diwakar Ghale of Kathmandu, Manishraj Pandey of Bhaktapur, Shekher Shrestha of Lalitpur and Karan Mahatara Chhetri of Makawanpur – they have also finalised other officer bearers. As per the agreement, Makawanpur chapter will get vice president, Lalitpur will get secretary, treasurer will be from Bhaktapur and nine members will be picked on mutual understanding. Khadka is the elected member of Kathmandu District Cricket Association.
All six district associations will have four votes each in the provincial election apart from polling rights to all 13 members of the existing executive committee of the province. Meanwhile, the seven executive committee members of the province including President Raju Basnet among others also have backed Khadka for the post.
