Sompal Kami cracked a half-century as Nepal posted a 180-run target for Pakistan A in their opening match of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 being played at Colombo Cricket Club Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday.
Nepal’s batting lineup crumbled before the Pakistani bowling attack as they managed to get only 179 runs on the board, losing all wickets in 37 overs.
The Rhinos lost openers Kushal Bhurtel and Mahamad Asif Sheikh at just one and 12 runs respectively.
Bhurtel made one run off six deliveries before losing his wicket to Shahnawaz Dahani in 1.5 overs. Sheikh was caught by Muhammad Tayyab off Dahani’s delivery in 3.6 overs. He contributed 12 runs with three hits to the fence.
Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel (4 runs) was next to go back to the pavilion in 4.5 overs and was followed by Bhim Sharki out for a duck in 6.6 overs.
Arjun Saud and Kushal Malla played an equal 17 runs-knock.
Malla played a 28 runs partnership with Gulshan Kumar Jha (13 runs) while Sompal Kami cracked a half-century. Kami scored 75 runs off 101 deliveries with nine hits to the fence and two sixes.
Pratis GC contributed 26 runs and shared a 58-run partnership with Kami.
Shahnawaz Dahani of Pakistan claimed five Nepali scalps as Muhammad Wasim grabbed four wickets and Mubasir Khan took one wicket.
