Nepal lose T20I opener against Malaysia

Nepali women cricket team succumbed to their first ever Twenty20 International defeat against Malaysia in the opening match of five-match T20I bilateral series at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia, on Monday.
Visiting Nepal came up with a poor show in batting and were bowled out for 50 runs in 16.5 overs after they were invited to bat first. In the run chase, Malaysia achieved the target in 13.2 overs losing five wickets.
Nepal had defeated Malaysia in all three previous T20I encounters.
Nepal’s batters Sonu Khadka (13 runs) and Jyoti Pandey (11 runs) were the only players to touch double digit figures. Nepal also got 11 extra runs.
Malaysia’s Nik Nur Atiela claimed three wickets while Ainna Hamizah Hashim, Aisya Eleesa and Mahirah Izzati Ismail shared two wickets each.
Chasing the target, opener Wan Julia contributed 13 runs and Ainna Hamizah scored 12 runs remaining unbeaten. Ania Najwa was not out on eight runs.
Nepal’s skipper Rubina Chhetry and Sita Rana Magar claimed two wickets each.
The second match of the series will take place on Tuesday.
