UAE secure six wickets victory over PNG

Opener Muhammad Waseem cracked a century as UAE secured a six wickets victory over PNG in the final tri-series of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 held at TU cricket ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday.
Waseem shared a 125 runs partnership with Vriitya Aravind to help the team score 236 runs, overcoming the 234 runs target in 38.4 overs.
The UAE captain top-scored at 119 runs off 76 balls, smashing six boundaries and 12 sixes.
Aravind also smashed five boundaries, putting 33 runs on the scoreboard, before being caught by Charles Amini.
Likewise, CP Rizwan scored an unbeaten 44-ball 29 while Aayan Afzal Khan scored 27 runs off 38 balls.
Opener Aryan Lakra was the only UAE batter to put up a single-digit score, managing a 15-ball 4 before being caught leg before wicket in 4.2 overs.
Previously, UAE’s Hazrat Bilal had grabbed four wickets, restricting PNG to 234 runs.
For PNG, Assad Vala scored 65 runs off 92 balls, before being caught by Waseem in 42.5 overs.
Similarly, Norman Vanua put up an unbeaten 31-ball 49 while Riley Hekure smashed three boundaries and two sixes to score 33 runs in his 22-ball knock.
On the bowling end, Hekure grabbed two wickets while Kabua Morea and John Kariko also took a wicket apiece.
