Nepal clean sweep Kenya Series 3-0

Nepal pulled off a six-wicket victory over Kenya in the third One-Day match to sweep the three-match Series 3-0 at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi on Monday.
Openers Arjun Saud and Aasif Sheikh and Bashir Ahamad cracked half centuries each in Nepal’s run chase as they made 258-4 in 47.1 overs after Kenya, who chose to bat first, posted 255-9.
Kenya batter Collins Obuya scored a 111-ball 84, the highest in the inning. The number three batter cracked seven fences and two sixes before he was bowled by spinner Shahab Alam. Lower middle order batter Lucas Oluoch played a quickfire 27-ball 59 remaining unbeaten. He hit five boundaries and maximums each.
Opener Sukhdeep Singh scored 37 off 67 before he was caught by Sompal Kami off Basir Ahamad. Emmanuel Bundi (23 runs) and captain Shem Ngoche (17 runs) were the other players of the home team to touch double digit figures.
Nepal bowlers Sompal Kami and Mohammad Aadil Alam claimed two wickets each. Kami gave away 36 runs in his 10-over spell with a maiden over. Aadil Alam conceded 56 runs in his 10-over bowling, also with a maiden over.
Nepal made a solid start to their run chase with openers Saud scoring 58 runs and Alam 56 runs. The duo shared a 73-run stand for the first wicket before Sheik was caught by Rakep Patel in a delivery by Yash Talati. He struck nine fences and two sixes facing 43 deliveries.
Saud then shared an 81-run partnership for the second wicket with former captain Gyanendra Malla. He cracked three boundaries and two sixes in his 90-ball knock before Vraj Patel had him caught by Rakep.
Malla, trapped leg before by Shem Ngoche, contributed a 51-ball 33 that included a boundary. Stand-in skipper Rohit Paudel and Ahamad played a fifth wicket unbeaten knock of 95 runs. Paudel, promoted to captain in the absence of regular skipper Sandeep Lamichhane for the One-Day Series, scored 46 runs including the winning four and Ahamad 52 runs.
Paudel played ball-a-run that consisted of four fences while Ahamad cracked seven fences in his 49-ball knock.
Vraj Patel claimed two wickets of Nepal while Ngoche and Yash Talati picked one scalp each. Vraj conceded 47 runs in his 10-over spell.
Nepal had visited Kenya for a five-match T20 International Series and three-match One-Day Series. They won the T20I Series 3-2.
