Sudurpaschim through to semi-final

Sudurpaschim Province thumped Province No 2 by 87 runs to storm into the semi-final of the Prime Minister Cup Women's National Twenty20 Cricket Tournament as Group 'B' runners up at the Faple Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi on Thursday.
Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club registered a resounding 117-run win over Gandaki Province to maintain their cent percent winning streak and wrap up the group stage atop the table.
APF topped the table with six points from three matches while Sudurpaschim stood second with four points from as many matches to secure second position from the group. APF will meet group 'A' runners up Lumbini Province in the last four clash while Sudurpaschim will vie against group 'A' toppers Province No 1 for entry into the final. The semi-finals will be played on Saturday.
Put into bat first, Sudurpaschim scored 143-5 after Bindu Rawal contributed an unbeaten half century. Chasing the target, Province No 2 managed only 56-8 as only two batters managed to touch double digit figures.
Openers Rubi Poddar and Kabita Joshi gave a strong start to Sudurpaschim innings, playing a 41-run stand for the first wicket. Rubi Poddar contributed 21 runs and Kabita Joshi 13 runs before the latter was dismissed by Anuradha Chaudhary.
Rawal, who came to bat at number three, cracked unbeaten 50 runs off 45 deliveries to guide home team to a challenging total. The player-of-the-match hit four fences. Sangita Mouni and Dolly Bhatta were other major contributors collecting 13 runs and 15 runs respectively. Shova Rokaya scored nine runs.
Province 2 bowler Bimala Magar picked two wickets while Anuradha and Sana Prabin had a share in one scalp each. Magar gave away 28 runs in her four-over spell.
Province 2 made a shaky start to their run chase losing four wickets for 14 runs on board. Middle order batter Bimala Magar and Prabin were the only players to touch double digits scoring 12 and 14 runs respectively.
Sudurpaschim bowlers Laxmi Saud and Kabita Joshi collected two wickets each. Joshi conceded seven runs in a four-over spell with two maiden overs. Saud gave away 18 runs in her four-over bowling.
In the other fixture of the day, Mamta Chaudhary notched up 43 runs as APF posted a big total of 150-4 before restricting Gandaki to 33-7.
The player-of-the-match Chaudhary cracked six boundaries in her quickfire knock off 30 deliveries before being run out. Roma Thapa and Sarita Magar contributed an equal 26 runs. Thapa hit three boundaries facing 22 deliveries while Magar hit a four and remained unbeaten in her 28-ball knock. Wicketkeeper batter Jyoti Pandey was another major contributor scoring 24 runs.
Manisha Upadhyaya claimed a scalp for Gandaki.
Chasing the target, Gandaki never settled in batting and lost top four batters without opening accounts. Shila Chhetri was the highest scorer for Gandaki collecting eight runs.
APF bowlers Karuna Bhandari and Sushma Shrestha pocketed two wickets each.
