Kantipur journo receives environmental journalism award

Gobinda Pokhrel, a Kantipur Daily’s journalist, has received this year’s environmental journalism award.
The Department of Environment, on the occasion of Environment Day, awarded the “Environment Conservation Journalism Award” to Pokhrel. The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000.
Minister for Forest and Environment Birendra Prasad Mahato presented the award amid a ceremony held at the department premises on Sunday.
Pokhrel has been reporting on issues related to science and technology, wildlife, climate change and biodiversity.
Along with Pokharel, Bishma Raj Ojha of Rastriya Samachar Samiti and Balika Maden of Radio Nepal were also awarded for their contribution to news reports related to forests and the environment.
