Tulsi Ghimire’s new feature film, Darpan Chhaya 2, is inching closer to hitting theatres around the country. Fans who have been waiting to see the second installment of Darpan Chhaya—one of the most successful movies in Kollywood history—can now sample a taste for the new movie with the release of a music video, titled Aakashaima. 

Darpan Chhaya 2, which features actors Pushpal Khadka, Firoj Timalsina, Sher Bahadur Gurung, Jeevan Acharya and Suman Ghimirey in the lead roles, has brought back music composer Ranjit Gazmer to lend his tunes to the movie. 

Darpan Chhaya, a blockbuster and now a cult classic, went on to rope in Rs 70 million at the box office, surpassing Ghimire’s 1985 classic Kusume Rumal as the highest grossing Nepali movie at the time. The soundtrack, composed by Ranjit Gazmer, which included ever-green hits like Lahana Le Jurayo Ki and Tyo Danda Pari, would also go on to dominate the airwaves. 

Although, the new movie does borrow its name from the 2001 hit, Ghimire has reiterated that it is not a sequel to the former. Shot in locations in Kathmandu and the Khaptad region, director Ghimire had expressed his desire to rope in actors Dilip Rayamajhi and Uttam Shrestha, the protagonists for the original feature, but the plans appear to have fallen through. 

Darpan Chhaya 2 is slated to hit the screens in March, 2017.
