Thick smog blankets the Valley, lowering visibility as AQI reaches 192.

Kathmandu recorded the world’s worst air quality on Sunday, with the Air Quality Index reaching 192, placing the city at the top of global pollution rankings.
A thick grey haze has blanketed the Valley, sharply reducing visibility and obscuring the surrounding hills. Conditions have also affected operations at Tribhuvan International Airport, where visibility dropped significantly.
An AQI level of 192 falls in the unhealthy category, posing health risks to the general population, according to air quality standards.
Experts said the pollution is driven by a combination of vehicle emissions, construction dust and smoke from forest fires, all trapped within the Valley.
Health officials have urged residents to limit outdoor exposure and use protective masks, warning of potential respiratory problems even among healthy individuals.
