A rare blend of serenity, spirituality and natural splendour, Khaptad National Park in far-western Nepal continues to mesmerise all who venture into its tranquil embrace.
Spread across the highlands of four districts—Bajhang, Bajura, Doti and Achham—this national park is often referred to as a “heaven on earth” for its scenic diversity.

During the spring and early summer months, from mid-March to August, Khaptad bursts into life with vibrant rhododendron blossoms and delicate ground flowers carpeting its vast meadows. Herds of deer playfully roam through thick shrubs, while birds chirp endlessly in the clear alpine air.
From steep cliffs and gentle hills to meandering rivers and tranquil wetlands, the variety of landscapes within the park is astonishing. Adding to its allure is the spiritual significance the area holds, with Khaptad often described as a centre of cultural, religious and mystical heritage.

“Khaptad is a shining example of how sacred, beautiful and rich Nepal truly is,” wrote lyricist Byakul Maila in his travel memoir Khaptad Kavya Yatra, following a trip to the area.
Home to rare flora and fauna, and still largely untouched by mass tourism, Khaptad remains a hidden gem in Nepal’s wilderness—offering a unique escape for those who seek nature in its purest form.
