While some are busy collecting heaps of recently-cut paddy, others are reaping, threshing and transporting it to the granary. When farmers reach the fields of two earnings of paddy—winter and spring—all of them are well occupied.
For the farmers in Paanchthar, November is widely known as the season of paddy harvest. According to Lok Bahadur Budachhetri of Phidim-11, as the younger generation has migrated from the rural areas, older farmers are obligated to plant and harvest paddy.
Paddy is produced in all eight local units including one municipality and seven rural municipalities of the district.
According to the data, around 30,000 metric tons of paddy is produced in the district. In some places, paddy is planted twice a year.
