Shusmita Thapa Magar has already tested her might at Muay Thai and kickboxing. Now, she has started her pro mixed martial arts journey in style: she registered a win in her debut.

Magar defeated India’s Shalu Sharma by unanimous decision at a co-main event at Ronin Fighting Championship-3 in Bengaluru on Saturday night.

Magar, who has a pro Muay Thai record of 7-0 and a pro kickboxing record of 2-2, had previously fought at Ronin Fighting Championship-2. However, it was in kickboxing and she had defeated Aarti Khatri, again by unanimous decision.

Magar seemed to be enjoying her fight against Sharma, who had an upper hand in grappling. However, Magar found her way around and used Sharma’s grappling against her.

Out of the three rounds of five minutes each, Magar dominated all three. In the second round, Magar had Sharma on the mat for most of the time and kept pounding with her elbow. Sharma even got a cut on her eyebrow.

The punches continued in the third round as well.

The only thing Magar seemed dissatisfied with was she was not able to knock her opponent out.
