KUSMS wins inaugural KU running shield
KUSMS top medal tally with 11 golds; KUSOL and KUSOM finish second and third, respectively.

Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) clinched the first-ever KU Running Shield after topping the medal tally with an impressive 11 gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.
Kathmandu University concluded the KU Running Shield 2025 on Friday with the final day of matches and a closing ceremony held at its Dhulikhel premises. The week-long sporting event brought together participants from across the university's constituent schools in a display of competitive spirit, discipline, and teamwork.
In the boys’ cricket final, KUSMS triumphed over Birat Medical College, while the boys’ football gold went to the School of Law (KUSOL), leaving the School of Science (KUSOS) with silver.
KUSOL secured second position overall with eight gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, followed by the School of Management (KUSOM) in third with four golds and two bronze. Scheer Memorial College was awarded the fair play award.
The prize distribution and closing ceremony took place from 2pm, with Youth and Sports Minister Teju Lal Chaudhary attending as the chief guest. National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising was present as the special guest.
“This event reflects the very essence of what we strive for at Kathmandu University — a balanced and fulfilling student experience,” said Gokul KC, Director of the Student Welfare Directorate. “Through events like the Running Shield, we’re promoting values like discipline, teamwork, and resilience, while also giving students a platform to unwind, express themselves, and stay active. It’s crucial for their mental and physical well-being.”
Council President Dr Kunal Karna of the KUSMS Student Welfare Council expressed pride in his college’s achievement. “This victory is a testament to the relentless dedication, teamwork, and spirit of our students—both on and off the field. Being recognized as the best among all KU constituent colleges is not just an honour, but a reflection of our balanced commitment to academics, sports, and holistic growth,” he said.
The KU Running Shield 2025, in its first edition, served as a platform to foster unity, excellence, and vibrant student life across Kathmandu University, the organiser said.
