Asian Cross Country race on March 7
It will be the second time that Nepal will be hosting the event after 1999.Sports Bureau
The Nepal Athletics Association (NAA) is set to organise the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships on March 7 in Kathmandu.
Organising a press conference on Sunday, NAA president Rajeev Bikram Shah said that the tournament to be held at the Gokarna Forest Resort will feature events in four different categories — senior men’s and women’s 10km race, junior men’s U-20 age category 8km race and junior women’s U-20 6km race.
It will be the second time that Nepal will be hosting the event after 1999. NAA is expecting participation of 450 athletes from 40 to 45 countries of the continent. The event being organised under the aegis of Asian Athletics Association, will be conducted by a joint technical team of international delegates and Nepal.
Meanwhile, NAA has formed seven committees to run the event. The expected cost of hosting the event is Rs36.5 million.
