Nepal Police Club clinched the women's team event gold in the fifth Samjhana Cup International Table Tennis Championships at the National Table Tennis Training Centre in Lainchaur.
Police registered 3-0 victory Kantipur Valley Ping Pong Club. In the doubles event, Police’s duo of Manju Suwal and Elina Maharjan saw off Swechhan Nembang and Rabina Maharjan’s challenge, 11-9, 11-6, 11-9. In the singles event Nabita Shrestha thrashed Diya Deula 11-4, 11-5, 11-8. In the other singles match, Elina edged Rabina 11-4, 3-11, 5-11, 11-4, 11-7.
Indira Paudel Parajuli of Dillibazar Table Tennis secured top finish in women’s veterans singles above 40 years age category. She defeated Samjhana Pokharel of the same club, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4. Hira Devi Nakarmi of Lagankhel and Sabita Basnet of Gyan Bhairav were adjudged joint bronze medalists.
The tournament organised by Lalitpur District Table Tennis Club is being sponsored by Samjhana Laboratory Private Limited.
