Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club registered twin victories in the Sanjay Memorial National Women's Beach Volleyball Tournament that kicked off on Thursday at the artificially constructed court in Rani Mahal, Palpa.
APF's pair of Reshma Bhandari and Niruta Thagunna registered a three-set victory over Province 1. The duo registered a 21-1, 16-21, 15-5 win over Province 1 pair of Anjana Limbu and Prachi Gautam in their opening game. In another match, the APF team eased to a 21-5, 21-8 win over Madhes Province team comprising Sabina Chaudhary and Neha Chaudhary.
The day's opening match saw Province 1 pair of Limbu and Gautam ease to a 21-7, 21-16 victory over Madhes Province's pair of Sabina Chaudhary and Neha Chaudhary.
In the second match, Sudurpaschim Province's team of Bhagawati Joshi and Babita Bohara saw off Karnali's team of Aahara Kumari Shahi and Hira Jaisi 20-4, 23-21. In another match of the day, Nepal Police Club's team of Kamala Pun and Manisha Chaudhary thumped Lumbini's pair of Bhawana Dangi and Saraswati Kattel 21-9, 21-11.
Gandaki Province's duo of Pabitra BC and Rebina Gharti Magar pulled off a comprehensive victory of 21-6, 21-14 over Bagmati's team of Monika Mahato and Rojina Kumal.
The tournament organised by Sanjay Memorial Foundation is participated by nine teams, including the seven provinces, apart from Police and APF. The teams are divided into four groups. The four quarter-final matches will be played on Friday.
The winners and runners up of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs100,000 and Rs50,000 respectively. Meanwhile, Narayan Prasad Sharma, the chief of Tiger Group of Hotel, announced that a reward of Rs30,000 will be given to the third-place finishers.
