Army, APF Club advance
Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club made it to the Super League of the 16th National Women’s League Championship held under the National Sports Council Championships at the Anfa Complex on Wednesday.

The Army team hammered Mid Western Region 12-0 and APF annihilated Western Region 14-0. In the first match of the day, Sapana Lama struck five and Sharmila Thapa Magar slammed four goals for the Army team. Dipa Rai also chipped in a double as did skipper Krishna Khatri for the winners.
Thapa Magar put Army team ahead early in the fourth minute and Khatri made it 2-0 in the 11th minute. Thapa Magar added to her personal tally in the 26th minute before completing a hat-trick in the 35th minute. She struck her fourth goal in the injury time.
Lama took over the scoring responsibilities from Thapa Magar in the later stages of the game starting with a 38th minute goal before going on to add more in the 53rd, 76th and 85th minute. Rai scored her double in the 25th and 29th minute. Khatri scored her second goal in the 80th minute.
In the day’s second game, Sabitra Bhandari slammed eight goals alone for APF. Bhandari, who also struck a record high 12 goals alone against Mid-Western earlier in the tournament, opened her account in sixth minute. Rampant Bhandari then scored other goals in the 27th, 33rd, first half injury time, 50th, 54th, 66th and 89th minute. Apart from Bhandari, Rekha Paudel also scored a double in the 37th and 40th minute while Anita KC added two more in the 58th and 59th minute. Renuka Nagarkoti and Anita Basnet also joined in the goal-scoring spree with a goal apiece.
The results meant the Army and APF team advance to the Super League with a game to spare. The two teams meet on Friday which will decide the Group ‘B’ winners. Both teams are tied on six points each from two games.
