Sharks, Ncops set title clash
Sainik Sharks (Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya) and Ncops (Nepal Police School) set championship clash of the School Cricket Series here on Tuesday.Sharks cruised to a comfortable 76-run win over Sainik Seals whereas Ncops battled to a one-wicket victory over DAV Kiwis (DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School) in the semi-finals here at the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya grounds. Sharks rode on a fine half century from Mandip Bhandari to post 144-4 in their 20 overs before restricting Seals to a modest 68 runs in 15.2 overs.
Mandip struck 61 with 10 fours in his rampant 47-ball knock to lay the foundation of the Sharks total. Sourav Pela also contributed 21-ball 33 and Dinesh Dhanuk 37-ball 22. Bishal Budhathoki, Praful Shrestha, Anish Thakuri and Kushal Pun claimed one wicket each for Seals.
Seals were never in hunt in the run chase after being reduced to 38-5 inside eight overs. Seals opener Kushal Pun top scored with 19 while Sudip Khadka chipped in with 12 runs. Seals had 22 sundries to thank for making 68-run total. Pela, Santosh Khadka, Saroj Dallakoti and Milan Thapa took one wicket each for Sharks. In all six Seals batsmen were run out.
In the exciting second semi-finals, Ncops were stretched to the final ball of their innings to beat DAV Kiwis, who had posted 97 runs in 20 overs. Shubham Jhawar and skipper Sujal Gupta scored 22 runs each while Manish Mandal contributed 13 for the Kiwis. Binamra Chhetri grabbed two while skipper Suraj Chaudhary, Subham Chaudhary, Amit Adhikari and Nirajan Adhikari snared one wicket apiece for Ncops.
Ncops needed five runs in the last over of their run chase with four wickets in hand but crossed the finish line the hard way losing three more wickets in the process. Suraj Chaudhary top scored for Ncops with 30-ball 24 and Subham made 17. Devashish Sharma was pick of the Kiwis bowlers with 3-16 while Ashwani Mukhiya (2-16) and Bimal Kumar (2-12) share four wickets.
