Kaski FA ropes in new sponsor
Kaski District Football Association (Kaski, FA) on Tuesday signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Manakamana Darshan Pvt Ltd (MDPL) for the Pokhara Cup football tournament.The Managing Director of MDPL Rajesh Babu Shrestha and the President of Kaski FA Dharma Bahadur Lamichhane signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Local Development on Tuesday.
As per the signing, MDPL will provide annual Rs 1 million to Kaski FA. MD Shrestha said his company was happy to be associated with a popular tournament. “We have previously been associated with Bodybuilding Association and are now glad to be able join hands with football,” said Shrestha.
Deputy PM Singh said it was important for the private sector to develop a culture of sponsoring sports tournament as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). “It is difficult to collect fund to organise sports tournament and private sector must help them as part of their CSR,” said the deputy PM Singh.
The tournament was previously sponsored by Safal Milk, a product of Sujal Food. The Pokhara Cup is slated for January 12-24. In all, 12 teams—including three foreign invitees— will vie for the trophy. The champions will walk away with Rs 3,55,000 and the runner’s up will get Rs 175,500. Individual cash awards are also on offer.
