The government on Tuesday has said that it will regulate advertisements on social media and digital platforms.
Addressing a joint meeting of the parliament, Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun said that advertising through digital platforms would be well-managed and regulated by the government from the upcoming fiscal year.
“Advertising through digital platforms will be regulated through a one-door policy,” Pun said, adding that the policy on advertisements relating to public welfare would be given continuity.
The Advertisement Board of Nepal has introduced the Advertisement Regulations Act, 2024 for the regulation of ads being run on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X and others.
