A schoolgirl was killed on the spot after being struck by a tractor in ward 3 of Gaushala Municipality, Mahottari district. Two others sustained injuries.

According to the District Police Office, the victim has been identified as the nine-year-old daughter of Ramkaran Mahato.

Sambhu Sah, head of the school management committee of Janata Elementary School, said she was cycling to school when the accident occurred.

The injured are in stable condition. The tractor driver fled the scene and remains at large, police say.
