Siraha

A female police officer was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the Siraha Police Office on Thursday.

The victim was found hanging in the washroom of the office at around 3:30pm.

Most of the officials at the police office were tight lipped about the incident. Superintendent of Police Ramesh Pandit, who is also police chief in the district, later confirmed that the deceased was a female officer but refused to give further details.

The district police office is currently being cleared and service seekers are being turned away citing a ‘special meeting’ inside the office.

The police had initially attempted to keep the incident under wraps.

Media personnel, who reached the police office to cover the incident, accused Police Inspector Udayabhan Dwibedi of misbehaving with them.
