Police on Tuesday arrested a rape convict who was on the run for the past six years.

Asikul Miya, 45, of Siraha Municipality-16 was arrested by Siraha police and handed to the Siraha District Court, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabinbra Raj Pandey.

Miya was convicted of the rape by the court on March 7, 2018, and was on the run since then.

According to officials, the court had sentenced Miya to two years and six months in prison.

He was arrested on January 14 and presented before the court on Tuesday. Miya has been sent to the district jail to serve his jail term, said Pandey.
