Armed Police Force on Sunday arrested an Indian national who was taking two Nepali children to India in a sack from Devtaal Rural Municipality along the Nepal-India border.
According to APF Superintendent Top Bahadur Dangi, 22-year-old Tabrez Alam of Adapur in Murtiya Gram Panchayat Ward No. 4 of East Champaran district in India’s Bihar State, was arrested on charge of kidnapping.
Dangi informed that Alam had kidnapped one 9-month-old daughter of Shivpujan Mahato and a 2-year-old son of Premchandra Mahato of AMwa village in the rural municipality and was smuggling them to India in a sack.
Dangi said that a team of APF personnel heard the cries of the children from inside the sack and rescued them.
“The children were rescued and have been handed over to the Nepal Police on Sunday,” said Dangi.
The police handed the children to their parents later on the day.
Dangi further informed that additional investigation is being conducted on Alam on suspicion that he may be involved in kidnapping other children as well.
