Irate locals demonstrated and set a tipper on fire after a girl died in a road accident at Lal Bazaar of Belaka Municipality-4 of Udayapur district on Friday.

According to police, a four-year-old daughter of local Nawaraj Rana Magar died on the spot after she was hit by a tipper heading to Rampur from Beltar along the Madan Bhandari Highway.

Locals set ablaze another tipper plying the road after the accident and also vandalised a fire engine deployed to contain the fire.

Police have detained tipper driver Tuk Raj Tamang, 23, of Katari Municipality who was on the run after the mishap.
