A landslide has blocked the Araniko Highway at Sanga, the bordering area of Kavrepalanchok and Bhaktapur districts.
The landslide occurred near the suspension bridge in ward 10 of Suryabinayak Municipality on Saturday, following continuous rainfall, said Police Inspector Pradip Khatri of the District Traffic Police Office, Bhaktapur.
According to him, landslides began around 5pm on Saturday, but by 9pm, traffic movement in both directions had come to a complete halt. Vehicles are being diverted through the Bhaktapur–Nala road as an alternative route.
Excavators are being used to clear the debris, police said. A fuel tanker has been trapped in the landslide, and efforts are underway to remove it.
