Post Report
Giesing
Giesing is a traditional, working-class neighbourhood located southeast of Munich’s city centre.
Pros
It offers cheaper rent compared to central Munich. It is well-connected to universities by U-Bahn and S-Bahn. Parks like Ostpark are great for relaxation and outdoor activities.
Cons
Some housing may be older and less modern, although it is often spacious. Giesing is situated approximately 5 to 7 km from university campuses, so commute times can be slightly longer.
Maxvorstadt
Maxvorstadt is Munich’s academic and cultural hub, home to Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) and many museums.

Pros
Ludwig Maximilian University and the Technical University of Munich are just a walk or short bike ride away. The area is filled with cafes, libraries, and student services. Indian and Nepali restaurants, as well as grocery stores, are also easily accessible.
Cons
It is one of the most expensive areas in Munich due to demand. Students often need to share apartments or live in dorms. It can be noisy and hectic, especially during the day.
Sendling
Sendling is a district in southwest Munich. It offers lower housing costs compared to central Munich. It features good public transport connections and green spaces, thus making it a practical choice for student.

Pros
An international student living in Sendling will have convenient access to Munich’s leading higher education institutions and will be easily reachable by public transport.
Cons
Sendling is more residential than commercial, so there may be fewer trendy cafes or student hangout areas.
Freising
Freising is a historic Bavarian town just north of Munich. Known for its medieval charm, breweries, and proximity to Munich Airport, it balances small-town tranquility with urban connectivity.

Pros
It is home to the TUM School of Life Sciences and Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf. It offers specialised programmes in green sciences, agriculture, and biotechnology.
Cons
It has fewer international students which limits multicultural social circles.
Moosach
Moosach is a calm residential neighbourhood located in the northwest of Munich’s city centre. It’s a popular choice for students who prefer quieter, affordable places while staying connected to the city.

Pros
It features a safe and family-friendly atmosphere, a good mix of older houses and modern apartments, and convenient shopping options, such as the nearby Olympia Einkaufszentrum, one of Munich’s largest malls.
Cons
While Moosach offers a peaceful environment, students may find the longer commute to universities and the city centre inconvenient.
