Three appointed high court judges
The Judicial Council has appointed Supreme Court Registrar Bhadrakali Pokharel, District Judge Himlal Belbase and Gajendra Bahadur Singh as high court judges, while also approving judicial transfers and new appointments.Post Report
The Judicial Council has appointed Supreme Court Registrar Bhadrakali Pokharel, District Judge Himlal Belbase and Director General of the Supreme Court Judgment Execution Directorate Gajendra Bahadur Singh as high court judges.
A council meeting on Tuesday morning appointed Pokharel to the High Court in Surkhet, Belbase to the High Court in Janakpur and Singh to the High Court in Biratnagar.
The council also appointed Supreme Court bench officer Bharat Kumar Dahal as a district judge and posted him to the Kailali District Court.
The meeting also approved the transfer of district court judges. Three high court judges were transferred, while four other high court judges were transferred on deputation. As many as 15 district court judges were also transferred.
The council recommended Baburam Dahal and Thakendra Kattel for appointment as registrars of the Supreme Court. The posts had fallen vacant after Pokharel was appointed a high court judge and Man Bahadur Karki was appointed chief election commissioner.
Separately, a meeting of the Judicial Service Commission recommended Ram Prasad Bhattarai for appointment as secretary of the Judicial Council.
