Zonta Club Kathmandu conducts cybersecurity awareness programmes
Campaign held in partnership with police, lawyers and local government during UNITE initiative.Post Report
Zonta Club Kathmandu organised a series of cybersecurity awareness programmes in Kathmandu, Kalikot and Lumbini as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence under the UNITE campaign.
The programmes were conducted in collaboration with the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, women lawyers and Chandragiri Municipality. More than 600 people including children participated.
Sessions covered common forms of cybercrime in Nepal, online safety practices, available support mechanisms and existing legal provisions related to digital abuse.
On November 25, an in-person programme was held at the Chandragiri Municipality office with 160 participants, including ward-level women representatives and community members. Online sessions followed on November 26 for about 200 students from 10 schools in Kalikot district, and for 110 students at a school in Lumbini on December 3.
A concluding programme for corporate officials was held on December 10 in Kathmandu with 70 participants. Zonta Youth Club members also organised a panel discussion at Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management on December 2.
The campaign was supported by Everest Bank Limited, Golchha Group, NMB Bank Ltd and Padma Jyoti Group.
