Police have arrested two fugitives linked to the fake Bhutanese refugee scam who escaped from Central Jail on September 9.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Sanu Bhandari and Keshav Dulal were taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon. Both had fled along with hundreds of others during the protests that triggered a series of jailbreaks across the country.
On September 9, more than 14,000 inmates escaped from 28 prisons and detention centres nationwide. Among them was former CPN-UML secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who has since turned himself in.
However, several key figures remain on the run, including suspended government secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and Indrajit Rai, security adviser to former home minister Ram Bahadur Thapa. Both face charges in the high-profile refugee scam.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining fugitives.
