The National Examination Board (NEB) has confirmed that the Grade 12 examinations will be held as scheduled, starting April 24, despite rising concerns due to the prolonged teachers’ protest.

The board had published the exam timetable earlier, but uncertainty had grown over whether the exams would proceed.

In a statement issued on Friday, the board clarified that the examinations would not be postponed and urged students not to believe misleading information being circulated on social media.

“The board’s serious attention has been drawn to false information suggesting the postponement of the Grade 12 annual examinations scheduled to begin on April 24,” read the statement.

The board also called on students to remain calm and continue their preparations with patience. “We request all parents, teachers, and school principals to cooperate in creating a supportive environment for the smooth conduct of the exams,” the statement added.

However, preparations for the exams have been disturbed by the ongoing protests. Provincial and branch offices of the NEB have been unable to carry out tasks such as appointing exam centre heads and conducting orientation sessions.

The teachers’ federation organising the academic strike has issued a statement instructing teachers and staff not to participate in the Grade 12 examinations, among other activities.
