Municipal staffers on pen-down strike

The employees of Siddharthanagar Municipality have started a pen-down strike since Friday, demanding that their demands be addressed in the Federal Civil Service Bill 2080.
The Federal Civil Service Bill 2080 was passed by the federal Cabinet on September 7, and is set to be presented in Parliament for endorsement.
According to Omesh Kumar Gaire, accountant at the municipality, the employees have submitted a 20-point demand to the deputy mayor and administrative officer of the municipality, and the strike will continue until their demands are addressed.
“We have forwarded the demands of the employees to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. We will release an official statement after receiving a reply from the ministry,” said Uma Adhikari, deputy mayor of the municipality.
